How do I set up my TAQA Distribution Account?

If you’re registered with Tawtheeq, your water and electricity accounts will be set up for you. We’ll create an account under the same name shown on the tenancy contract, and you should receive a first bill from us within a month.

If your tenancy contract can’t be registered – if you are an owner-occupier – you’ll need to make a separate application.

The quickest and easiest way to set up your TAQA Distribution account is to do it online, it should only take a few minutes and you’ll be able to upload the required documents straight to our website. Or, if you prefer, you can visit one of our branches.

To open an TAQA Distribution account for the property you’re moving into, you’ll need to send us the following documents:
For tenants renting property:

Passport – ID and visa pages
Family Book (UAE Nationals only)
Emirates ID
Tenancy Contract
Previous Account Closing Letter for the property you are moving into For owners:
Passport – ID and visa pages
Family Book (UAE Nationals only)
Emirates ID
Copy of the Premise ownership deed or the site plan, valid and issued from AD Municipality

A note about Account Closing Letter : Previously known as a Clearance Certificate, an Account Closing Letter was issued when the previous TAQA Distribution account for your property was closed. To obtain a copy please contact your landlord.

If you’re waiting for your Emirates ID to come through, you can still set up your TAQA Distribution account. However, you must provide us with the ID card number within 40 days of your move in application date. To find out how to get an Emirates ID, visit: www.abudhabi.ae
