Water Quality Regulations

Protecting our most precious resource: Water

Dear Customer,

Water is life and we, at ADDC, are committed to ensuring the wholesomeness of water that reaches you. Our water network is governed and held to the highest standards by a clear set of Water Quality Regulations defined by the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy.

These regulations are intended to provide wholesome drinking water and reflect the current guidance by the World Health Organization (WHO). They have been developed following extensive consultation with the sector companies and other relevant stakeholders. These regulations outline and cover the following:

Wholesomeness of Drinking Water

Water supplied for the purpose of drinking, washing, cooking or food production must be wholesome, without any element, organism or substance at a concentration that affects public health. To ensure compliance we test water for a number of quality parameters.

Water Quality Parameters

We test for 63 water quality parameters, ensuring that the water you receive is free from any contaminant, whether it is physical, microbiological, inorganic chemical or element, pesticides, etc. You will find comprehensive tables in the regulations that define each of these parameters.

Measures for Safe Distribution

Once tested, we put into place more measures to ensure safe distribution to your home. The water distribution network is divided into various Water Quality Zones. Samples from each of these zones are frequently collected and sent to an accredited laboratory for quality monitoring and testing. Any discrepancy is immediately addressed with suitable corrective actions.
