Professionalism in management of assets throughout their lifecycle Abu Dhabi; January 2, 2015; Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC), an entity of Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA), has been certified as PAS 55, Publicly Available Specification, holder by the British Standards Institutes. Saeed Mohammed Al Suwaidi, ADDC Acting MD, received the certificate in his office in the attendance of large number of the company’s officials, employees and members of the PAS 55 Program Delivery Team. Al Suwaidi; “This accreditation is one more feather added to the company’s crown as it works hard to provide its customers with the best of its kind utility services on par with the urban and economic boom taking place in the UAE and as per the vision of our leadership and the strategy of the emirate of Abu Dhabi”. He congratulated; “AWEA officials, Black & Veatch International, the program consultant, and all ADDC’s staff and Dr. Majid Al Kathiri, Executive Director of the Assets Management Directorate and head of the program delivery team”. PAS 55 lays out requirements for good practices in physical asset management and has become a de facto global specification for any organization seeking to demonstrate a high level of professionalism in whole life cycle management of their physical assets. It gives guidance and a 28-point requirements checklist of good practices in physical asset management; typically this is relevant to gas, electricity and water utilities, road, air and rail transport systems, public facilities, process, manufacturing and natural resource industries. It is equally applicable to public and private sector, regulated or non-regulated environments. Al Suwaidi added; “We don’t only looking at obtaining the world-class certificate but also at making excellence a part of daily practices and procedures”. Dr. Majid Al Kathiri also said thank you to all ADDC’s departments for supporting the program delivery team, adding; “I would like to thank in particular the Black & Veatch International people in particular who were very supporting for us to obtain this accreditation”. He also pointed out that; “This result is very encouraging for us to go ahead with our plans to obtain the ISO55000 accrediation”.
