My role has many components to it, but much of what I do is concerned with the planning, budgeting, implementation and operation of the framework within which we manage the company's asset infrastructure. It's my responsibility to make sure things are run in the most efficient and cost effective way possible and I thrive on the challenges this presents.

I began my journey with ADDC in 1999 when I joined the company as an electrical maintenance engineer, having previously worked at ADNOC. Following a promotion in 2001, I spent a number of years in the Project Directorate before taking up my present position in 2014.

Currently, my responsibilities include the short, medium and long-term planning of ADDC's water and electricity networks, maximising the effectiveness of the company's asset infrastructure and determining the level of investment and work needed to deliver the optimum service outputs. This includes implementing an appropriate governance framework for all capital and operating investment within ADDC, and developing investment plans that are carefully structured to achieve the right balance between cost, performance and risk.

My role relies heavily on effective communication, both between myself and other members of the senior management team and also in providing essential guidelines to my managers within the Asset management Directorate.

This is my first job and I've been here for just over a year, but I already feel part of the team and have learned a lot in this short time. My work is very creative, I love the fact that I'm surrounded by colour and get to create something new every day.

I turn my design skills to anything and everything: posters, adverts, give-away promotions, logos, branding, social media…the list goes on. I work on a lot of campaigns, which I really enjoy; these could be to raise awareness of environmental issues, like the Think Before You Print project, or for events like exhibitions or promotions that ADDC are involved with.

Why

Even during the interview I knew that ADDC was the right place for me. The interviewer - now my department head - made be feel really welcome and listened to what I had to say. I'd been to a few interviews with other companies and ended up with three job offers, but the decision was easy to make.

One year later, here I am and my choice has turned out to be the right one. I work in a very supportive environment and receive a lot of feedback and guidance from my manager and the rest of the media team, which helps me to develop ideas and improve my designs. I've learned new skills and techniques and I now produce twice as much work in the same amount of time - those deadlines have to be met!

What I find really exciting about working here is that I'm allowed to try out new ideas. I think it's important that we don’t always play things safely and I respect the fact that I'm allowed to try different things, as that's how we develop and move forward as a company. And, although some of the crazier designs don't always work at first, the team can often help me to turn them into something new and fresh. But even when an idea doesn't work, it's not the end of the world as you often learn a lot from the experience.

The future looks bright for me at ADDC as the company really believes in helping us to grow and improve, and by this I mean as people as well as employees. Of course, the training courses I attend are really helpful, but there's also a lot of encouragement from my colleagues to take on responsibility and to make a difference.

I've been with the company for over 7 years, first as a consultant and then as an employee, and every day still brings a new challenge. As part of the Customer Solution Support Team my focus is to increase customer delight by helping to build solutions to problems or situations, which requires a mix of technical understanding and business knowledge.

It's an exciting role, as we are faced with a lot of innovation; for example, I'm very involved with e-services and also deal with billing systems and other integrated applications. I'm responsible for updating the systems and troubleshooting any issues that the people using them may encounter. I also have a lot of contact with our customers, who either call or walk in with issues that need resolving.

Our section creates initiatives and solutions that help provide a better customer experience; we analyse problems or situations to identify business requirements, coordinate with other departments to gather information and deal with suppliers to complete necessary projects that will improve our service.

Why

ADDC is a forward thinking company that encourages new initiatives and this attitude of constant innovation and development means we are always confronted with something new, which is one of the reasons I enjoy my work so much. When I see projects like our website, mobile app or new payment channels come to life, I feel very proud to be part of the team that made them happen.

I'm fortunate to work with a friendly and cooperative group of people that support each other, and this has a positive effect on the service standards that we provide. Our success is built on a recipe of commitment, teamwork and initiative, with everyone working towards a common goal: to build customer satisfaction. We have managers who keep us motivated and who appreciate employees' efforts, while acknowledging work that's done well. As with any large organisation, to some extent the different departments of the company work as silos, each focused on their own function, but at ADDC the pieces of the puzzle fit together to form a picture of success.

My work requires identifying the challenges that the company faces, and consequently exploring with all employees for the best possible solutions to overcome them. We strive to continuously improve the company's performance in strategic performance indicators, that is why I love my work as it gives the opportunity to develop, improve and search for solutions, and to test these solutions continuously.

I started working for TAQA Distribution in July 2009 as an Engineer in the water drawings approval unit, Customer Service Department, which earned me the important skill of dealing with customers. After that, I found the opportunity to work as a first contract Engineer in Supply Department, and then I transferred to Asset Program Management division. This journey helped me learn a lot about contractual obligations between the company and its contractors, in addition to the overall work progress of the company, as well as the company's role in serving government goals in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

In 2018, when the company started implementing the institutional innovation program, I was involved in the initial task of creating the program from scratch. We worked continuously to spread the culture of innovation among employees, and utilized their innovative ideas to overcome the challenges. Our aim is to improve performance continuously to achieve our vision of being among the best water and electricity distribution companies in the world.

Why

TAQA Distribution is notable for its value of team work as we all working towards a clear direction. ADDC also gave me the ability to obtain many skills and experiences because it is one of the emirate's largest companies, and it works in the most vital sectors. Moreover, the acquisition of knowledge in the company is not limited to the area of water distribution and technical engineering issues, but it entails knowledge regarding the effective commercial model that links distribution companies with generation and transportation companies, and ways and means of ensuring the sustainability of this model.

TAQA Distribution also experienced a continuous development in its business model concurrent with the continuous development in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. TAQA Distribution contributes greatly to the happiness of citizens and residents, and works to stabilize its economy, and be one of the most important elements that must ensure the continuity of its work in times of crisis such as natural disasters.

My passion for working in the energy sector led me to the TAQA Distribution, as a source of inspiration; it made me look at life differently, It has promoted the creation of creative and development ideas that contribute to serving one goal, which is keenly on the country's energy.

Why

Working at ADDC made me draw a road map in my mind for my children and future generations. As an engineer in ADDC, I contribute to achieving the company strategy that aims to build a smart distribution network, which is suitable for demand now and in the future. Through my work at ADDC, I gained skills that contribute to enhancing the work environment, such as cooperation and embodying a sense of team spirit at work, and ensuring the quality of work that consequently affects society positively.
