Awareness and awards: giving low voltage a high profile

As a leading authority on its subject, our Low Voltage Switchgear Committee is committed to raising awareness of matters that influence and develop low voltage technology and work practices in the region. Committee members organise in-house seminars to develop knowledge and understanding in our staff, and also contribute to industry events in the wider business arena.

Staff development

A professional team needs to be fully aware of important developments in its industry. That’s why members of our committee, along with expert guest speakers from respected LV manufacturers, hold internal seminars and workshops to keep our employees up-to-date with new LV equipment, advances in safety matters and changes to industry best practices.

Industry seminars

As well as holding seminars to educate ADDC employees, members of the committee also lend their expertise to industry exhibitions, speaking at a number of high-profile seminars related to LV issues in recent years.

As part of the committee’s on-going campaign to keep the public and industry members aware of their work, our experts have contributed to the following industry events held in the region:

  • Middle East Electricity 2013, an industry exhibition held at Dubai World Trade Centre in February 2013.
  • Seminar: Prequalification of low voltage equipment installed in Abu Dhabi emirate.
  • Plenary session with LVSGC stakeholders: Major barriers preventing local and international low voltage manufacturers entering Abu Dhabi market.
  • Power + Water Middle East 2013, an industry exhibition held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre in September 2013.
  • Middle East Electricity 2014, an industry exhibition held at Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre in February 2014.
  • Seminar: Safety and quality assurance of LV switchgear products achieving Abu Dhabi Vision 2030.

Recognition of our committee’s contribution

The work of LVSGC has received quite a lot of attention, with the committee receiving commendations from ADDC’s senior management for developing a unified LV equipment specification for the emirate (2011, 2013 and 2014).

LVSGC also took the honours in the HSE Project or Initiative of the Year category at the Middle East Electricity Award 2014, with their winning project: Safety and quality assurance of LV switchgear products achieving Abu Dhabi Vision 2030.
