Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC), an entity of Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA), and Lulu Group International have jointly launched very unique reward campaign to spread awareness about the importance of water conservation, the “SAVE WATER & WIN CASH” project. The contest, which is organised on the occasion of World Water Day 2016, observed this year under the theme; “Water and Jobs”, was announced in a special event organised recently at Khalidiyah Mall in Abu Dhabi. Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Said Al Suwaidi, ADDC Acting MD, said; “We support this contest in line with the directives of our visionary leadership aimed at sustainable use of our natural resources and environment protection for the benefit of the posterity”. Adding; “It is a part and parcel of ADDC’s social responsibility and falls within the Demand Side Management program we launched recently with the ultimate objective of encouraging our customer to use water and electricity more efficiently”. He also urged all Abu Dhabi residents to take up this challenge and help in conserving water. Mr. Abubaker TP, the Regional Director of Lulu group said “lulu has always strived to make their CSR campaigns very effective and innovative. We noticed that there is a lot of awareness about “saving water” but still many of us don’t follow the practice at our homes. Through this campaign we wish to reward the winners which is a good incentive for all of us to try hard to save water.” The campaign will run for 4 month and the winner will be decided as per the saving he/she has made in the ADDC bills for the next 3 month. The person who reduces the maximum Water Units in the next 3 months will be rewarded with Dhs. 50,000 followed by 2 second prize winners who will get Dhs. 25,000 each and 50 consolation prizes of Dhs. 5000 each. A total of Dhs. 350,000 will be given away in cash rewards. ADDC will contribute for the competition by organizing workshops and public speeches to educate the participants on the best conservation methods and practices. During the launch function more than 1000 water conserving devices were also distributed free of coast which can be easily fitted on taps or showers to reduce wastage.
