Senior Power Development Engineer
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification with background in power network development and execution for large projects under mega infrastructure development or power distribution utility. A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering would be preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in the power industry with particular experience in, undertaking feasibility and preliminary design studies , the detailed design and execution of power distribution systems including substation layout, load assessment, network configuration, equipment specifications.  Working knowledge of GIS, Asset Management and Network modelling practices would be an advantage.
  • Review and approval of network designs proposed by bulk customers with special emphasis on connecting points with ADDC system. Activities includes  review of substation switchgear arrangement, layout drawings, loading of equipments in normal operations and during emergencies, and philosophy of operation prior to passing the execution requirements to Projects Division, in case of projects that will be executed by ADDC.
  • Investigate, with the assistance of the Power Network Planning Team and other entities within ADDC and TRANSCO the manner by which the identified demands can be supplied. This will include the preparation of different options of power supply arrangement and conducting feasibility studies in which the engineer shall identify the preferred option. The studies shall include, when needed, risk identifications, load flows, short circuit analysis, and contingency analysis.
  • Assist Power Network Planning in preparing the five-year planning statements related to the Power Studies and Development Section for expansion and enhancement of the power distribution system, as per ADDC license obligation.
  • Assist Power Network Planning in preparing ADDC annual power distribution capital expenditure budget (CAPEX) related to the Power Studies and Development Section.
  • Review Preliminary Design Reports prepared by ADDC and/or ADWEA consultants to ensure that the scope and specifications proposed by those bodies comply with the requirements identified by the Asset Management Division.
  • Co-ordinate with ADDC's consultants and the developer's consultants, attend coordination and review meetings.
  • Co-ordinate with other departments to undertake technical bid evaluation for Construction projects.
  • Assist Asset Performance Department to prepare connection and supply agreements between ADDC and bulk customers and mega developers.
     
     
Power Development Engineer
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in power distribution system network design and execution with particular experience in the detailed design and execution of power distribution systems including substation layout, load assessment, network configuration, equipment specifications and system reliability etc.
  • Review and approval of LDNs (bulk & non-bulk consumers) with respect to demand, connectivity to ADDC network, preparation of the SLD (Feasibility) in coordination with Power Network Planning team, preparation of GIS drawings
  • Co-ordination with the Power Planning Team to develop appropriate load forecast scenarios to simulate possible futures of load growth by providing power demand estimates at specific locations. Candidates should be capable to study load characterization, densities and load profiles.
  • Review and approval of network designs proposed by bulk customers with special emphasis on connecting points with ADDC system. Power Planning Engineers (LV)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in power distribution system network planning with emphasis on LV system network and particular experience in using advanced computerized system planning tools. Working knowledge of GIS, asset management techniques and network
  • Co-ordinate with LV Planning team of Customers Services Directorate (CSD) and provide all inputs to the PNDD Planning team for incorporating the same in the upstream system development/ expansion Plan.
  • Review of LV distribution system development proposal by Developers or ADDC contractors.
  • Conducting load flow, short circuit, reactive power compensation and contingency analysis studies, in addition to system reliability and cost assessment in order to develop reliable and efficient LV plans to meet future system load growth.
  • Interaction with all developmental agencies and LV Planning section for collection of inputs for performing area wise load forecast.
  • Coordinating with the Power Studies and Development Team to develop appropriate load forecast scenarios to simulate possible futures of load growth. Linear regression, simulation, and econometric techniques would be used for this purpose. Candidates should be able to study load characterization, densities and load profiles.
  • Co-ordination with the operation team in the Distribution Management Division to assess equipment loads, power factor, and current and voltage profiles.
  • Creating and maintaining accurate computer network models for typical LV power distribution system.
  • Assist Planning team in providing inputs on area wise LV needs in co-ordination with LV planning section to be integrated with the over all system expansion plan.
     
     
Technical Services Engineer (OH Lines/Cables)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification with background in UG cable system design and execution and OH Line system design and execution. A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering would be preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the power industry with particular experience in undertaking design and execution of large distribution cable network and Over head line system. Specific experience in design, specification, international standards, best utility practices, installation methodologies, testing procedures, O&M of Cable system and OHL system is necessary.
  • Review and approval of UG cable distribution network designs proposed by Mega developers with special emphasis on connecting points with ADDC system. Activities include the review of allotted cable corridor requirement, cable ampacity requirement, adopted cable laying methods, Practical constraints for cable pulling, maintenance provision for cable system etc.
  • Review Contractor’s proposal for cable laying in order to connect bulk consumers with ADDC system.
  • Initiate Project proposal for required OHL network in remote areas in co-ordination with planning team. This shall include feasibility study, preparation of scope of work and BOQ etc. with close coordination of planning engineers and end user engineers.
  • Assisting the Power Network Planning Team in creating extending and maintaining accurate plans and computer network models of the power distribution systems.
  • Review Preliminary Design Reports prepared by ADDC and/or ADWEA consultants to ensure that the scope and specifications proposed by those bodies comply with the requirements identified by the Asset Management Division.
  • Coordinate with ADDC's consultants and the developer's consultants, attend meetings.
  • Coordinate with other departments and undertake technical and commercial bid evaluations for UG cable and OHL projects.
     
     
Technical Services Engineer (Substations)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification with background in substation design and execution of substation projects. A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering would be preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the power industry with particular experience in undertaking design and execution of high voltage/ Medium voltage substation projects. Should have thorough knowledge of international standards and practices, standard equipment layouts and configurations, substation equipment parameters/specifications, equipment testing, equipment grounding, civil works requirements, Safety and O & M practices.
  • Review and approval of substation designs proposed by Mega /Bulk consumers. Activities include the review of Main equipment single line diagram, equipment installation layout by considering safety and maintenance clearances, practical constraints for transportation of equipment for maintenance.
  • Review Contractor’s proposal for substation drawings with emphasis on distribution system.
  • Prepare RIT for required new substations as well as required modifications in the existing substation in coordination with planning engineers. This will involve all required feasibility study and preparation of scope of work and BOQ.
  • Assisting the Power Network Planning Team in creating, extending and maintaining accurate plans and computer network models of the power distribution systems.
  • Review Preliminary Design Reports prepared by ADDC and/or ADWEA consultants to ensure that the scope and specifications proposed by those bodies comply with the requirements identified by the Asset Management Division.
  • Coordinate with ADDC's consultants and the developer's consultants, attend meetings.
  • Coordinate with other departments and undertake technical and commercial bid evaluations for substations.
     
     
Technical Services Engineer (Protection & Control)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification with background in utility protection design and execution. A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering would be preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the power industry with particular experience in undertaking design and execution of various substations, Cable system, OH lines protection schemes in high/Medium voltage level, especially in the utility field. Should have knowledge of VT, CT sizing, relay setting calculations, relay communication & protocol, testing needs, protection schematic diagrams & wiring schemes etc.
  • Review and approval of protection drawings proposed by Mega /Bulk consumers. Activities include the review of relay and metering single line diagram, AC & DC schematics, Protection communication drawings etc.
  • Review Contractor’s proposal for substation protection schemes with emphasis on ADDC feeder protection.
  • Prepare RIT for required protection modifications in existing substations due to any modification as well as for any new substation requirement in coordination with protection department. This will involve all required system protection study and preparation of scope of work and BOQ.
  • Assisting the other technical service Engineers for establishing correct protection schemes for existing network as well as in the additional network.
  • Co-ordinate with protection department as well as DMS for improvements in the existing protection and control scheme.
  • Review Preliminary Design Reports prepared by ADDC and/or ADWEA consultants to ensure that the scope and specifications of proposed protection schemes by those bodies comply with the requirements identified by the Asset Management Division.
  • Coordinate with ADDC's consultants and the developer's consultants, attend meetings.
  • Coordinate with other departments and undertake technical and commercial bid evaluations for protection related projects. Assist other technical service engineers to evaluate protection related matters in their respective projects.
     
     
Power System Data Administrator
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification with strong background in power system studies.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the power industry and familiar with technical parameters of distribution/transmission network elements and relevant exposure/ experience in Power Supply quality assessments. Candidates should have working knowledge of GIS, MS office applications.
  • Collection/Preparation and Validation of Network Data for Network Studies
  • Updating the network data continuously for power system studies as and when the changes occur in the system.
  • Collection/Preparation and Validation of network single line diagrams (SLDs).
  • Data Compilation and assessment of power supply quality parameters.
     
     
Strategic Projects Monitoring & Control: Technical Assistant
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Higher Diploma in Electrical engineering or equivalent qualification with strong background in power project planning and coordination.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the power industry with experience in, project planning and monitoring and control of each project activities to accomplish critical project targets.
  • Collect data from all involved entities, right from planning stage to final commissioning of various strategic project progresses, analyze critical areas and report possible bottlenecks & delays.
  • Arrange progress meetings with various agencies during all phases of project activities.
  • Support Project Monitoring and control co-ordinator by furnishing required project progress details and escalate issue on critical path.
  • Coordinate with Network Services/Projects department Operations department and Customers services department and other external entities involved while commissioning critical projects. 
     
     
GIS/CAD Technician
  • Diploma/ Degree in Cartography or utility engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in using GIS and/or AutoCAD to produce high quality drawings.
  • Ability to interpret data and discuss technical issues related power network design, layouts network symbols.
  • PC Literate especially in using Microsoft Office applications
  • To prepare drawings for power network expansion schemes, using GIS and Auto-CAD software. Prepares new sector drawings based on rough sketches prepared by the Planning Engineers including cable routes details and the corresponding dimensions. Drawings shall incorporate any modification or changes proposed by Town Planning Department and shall include all approval requirements.
  • Assist the Surveyor by producing drawings required for any kind of site survey activities related to studies for improvement & extension of the water networks.
  • GIS/ CAD technical input in preparation of five-year planning statement for expansion and enhancement of the power distribution system, as per ADDC license obligation by producing drawings.
  • GIS/ CAD technical input in preparation of ADDC annual power distribution capital expenditure budget (CAPEX).
  • Coordinate with the Asset Information & Standards Department for all GIS related information and updates.
  • Exports and saves GIS data and maps, and discusses technical details with others when requested.

Surveyor/ CAD Technician
  • Diploma / Certificate in surveying works.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in using site survey instruments including GPS equipment.
  • PC literate. Experience in using AutoCAD and working on GIS platform would be an advantage
  • Carrying out site surveys as required for the current and new projects.
  • Collect information from Power Development Section and ADDC Power Services Division necessary to perform effective site surveys.
  • Receives consultant’s shop drawings from direct supervisors related to cabling works of new projects. Checks / compares drawings versus design and planning drawings to ensure that they are in line with agreed specifications.
  • Inspection of contractors’ work at site with respect to the route approvals.
  • Coordination with O&M Department to collect accurate information on the present network.
  • Coordinate with Town Planning Department in identifying the possible and feasible cable and overhead routes and alignments

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Working knowledge of GIS and asset management practices would be an advantage.

  • Working knowledge of GIS and asset management practices would be an advantage.

  • Plans, designs and models distribution network expansions and improvements to meet the demand forecast based on strategic planning data from various Government & Private Departments. 
  • Verifies the existing capacity of water supply system to meet the additional demand.
  • Designs the network extensions according to strategic planning and decides the mode of supply to ensure that required demand is met according to ADDC standards.
  • Carries out feasibility studies including hydraulic modeling for future network development and requirement for the existing water network rehabilitation or replacement.

  • Good communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office software required.
  • Knowledge of technical /specialized equipment used for network data measurement/collection is required.
  • Knowledge of GIS systems would be an advantage.
