ADDC to convert its small cars to run on CNG
21/03/2012
ADDC, in association with Emirates General Transport and Services Corporation (Emirates Transport), embarked on a plan to convert all ADDC's vehicles to run on compressed natural gas (CNG), the cleanest fossil fuel available.
One of ADDC's vehicles has been provided with conversion kit to run on NCG for two-month experiment period to study the environmental and economic aspects of the project before being applied to all ADDC's small vehicles. The conversion kit doesn't require any changes or modification in engine or engine parts. Switching from petrol to CNG can be done by just pressing a switch installed on the dashboard.
The move to safe, eco-friendly transport modes and more environmentally clean fuel alternatives was part of ADDC's strategy to contribute for the environment protection efforts and sustainable use of natural resources for the benefit of the posterity.
CNG has very affordable prices, compared to oil, and reduces vehicle maintenance cost considerably. ADDC has a fleet of 600 small cars with high running and maintenance cost.
